Please allow time for a visit to the bathroom or to change clothes, so the student does not miss warm-up. All students are responsible for arriving before class starts, wearing appropriate class attire and being ready to start class on time. While we understand that there are many circumstances that may lead to being late, we cannot allow a student to participate in a class if they are more than 10 minutes late. This ensures the safety of the students and maintains a high-quality class environment.
Food/Drink Policy
No gum, food or open lid drinks allowed on the gym floor. We encourage students to bring a water bottle.
Class Attire
Ages 5-15: Leotards and leggings / Barefeet
16 and Up: Modest, supportive, comfortable, work-out wear is completely acceptable. Barefeet.
Hair must be secured off the neck. No jewelry. NO zippers or buckles on clothing. They catch on/tear aerial fabric and can be dangerous to the student.
As this is a physical activity, please consider personal hygiene. Please have clean feet for aerial classes. Deodorant is always appreciated. Do not moisturize or put oil on your skin before class as this causes skin abrasion and makes it difficult to climb. You can now purchase your class attire needs from our online shop and have it shipped directly to you.
Aerial Safety Regulations
Safety is paramount. Transcendence Aerial & Dance and its instructors reserve the right to discourage or deny participation of students with certain injuries or health conditions. We encourage students to arrive early to warm-up in an unoccupied space before class begins and are welcome to do ground-based conditioning after classes. We allow students to enter the classroom space 15-minutes before and stay 10-minutes after class. Unsupervised acrobatic or handstand warmup or conditioning is prohibited. Beginner-level classes include a guided ground warm-up to help you develop this practice. Students are only permitted on the apparatus during his/her scheduled class. Students must use caution and follow instructions for their own safety and those around them.
Aerial Class Conduct
All students are responsible for their actions, attitude, and behavior for the duration of the time that they are in our facility, and will be expected to respect all coaches and rules.
Students must be actively participating and paying attention at all times during class, in order to progress efficiently and to prevent distractions. Students are expected to be courteous and encouraging to classmates. Students are not permitted to call out assistance to other students at any time during class. This prevents incorrect direction and eliminates any risk of unnecessary mistakes. Only assistant teachers are permitted to assist, as they have had training and instruction in assisting.
Students are encouraged to challenge themselves but are not permitted to advance in skills until they are ready. Any student that chooses to attempt skills they have not been permitted to do will not be able to participate in class for an amount of time determined by the instructor. Mastering basic skills are important before progressing to more difficult skills. Know the skills you are training. If you need clarification, don’t be afraid to speak up and ask! There is no “stupid” question. Help protect yourself by doing all you can to be safe in how you execute skills. Commit to the entire skill and follow through. Know your personal limitations. Do not attempt skills you are not comfortable or capable training. Communicate with your instructor at all times.
Students must stay on the equipment or activity the instructor has chosen and be supervised. For safety, using other equipment is not allowed. Be sure to look around before you cross in front of other groups or as you walk around the gym. There is often a lot going on and disregarding the safety rules can put others at risk of injury as well. If you become injured during class in any way, please do not keep it to yourself. Please tell an instructor immediately. We promise no one will get mad. By participating in risky activity, sometimes things happen, be we do need to know about it so we can know how to help you.
Aerial Training
Remember that you are a student and need to be supervised and instructed during class.
Any students attempting to do aerial work on their own or at home will not be permitted to attend class and subject to dismissal from class and forfeiture of payments. Transcendence classes are for recreation and fitness and are not designed as instructor training or to develop professional performers. If you are pursuing either of these training tracks you must first discuss your intentions and needs with an instructor prior to registration. For insurance purposes, we cannot be liable for students attempting to learn in order to practice, teach, or perform on their own. For further information on this matter contact the owner of Transcendence Aerial & Dance.
